I began my writing career in high school, where my friend Mike was the editor of the school paper. He gave me the opportunity to write a monthly column, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I had a role model in my uncle Joe, who wrote an outdoor column for the Minneapolis Star. However, I needed to make a living, so I attended law school and spent most of my adult life as a practicing lawyer and county attorney.
